CNC Cut Acrylic
Acrylic (often know as Plexiglass or Perspex) is an extremely popular transparent plastic. It's strong, lightweight and has a very high level of transparency. It bonds well with adhesives and solvents, and is easy to cut and fabricate with a CNC router, such as the one used at the Visual Imaging workshop. When compared to something like glass, acrylic is a cut above. Its much stronger, more shock resistant and will not shatter the way glass does. So what can this versatile routing material be used for?
Acrylic is perfect for 3D cut letters, logos and shapes.
Clear acrylic is ideal for use with illuminated and LED lit signs and displays.
Acrylic is supplied in clear, black, white and coloured sheets. It can also be painted or vinyl wrapped to change its look completely.
Visual Imaging can CNC route sheets of acrylic in a variety of sizes, which makes it a perfect material for things such as protective screens and clear display cases.
Typically Visual Imaging stock acrylic sheets up to a size of 2440 x 1220mm, so we can cut any shapes within those proportions. We can order larger sheets for specific project requirements.
"The different applications that acrylic could be used for is staggering. Using a combination of acrylic sheets and our CNC router, Visual Imaging can create anything from 3D signs to custom display cases and just about anything in-between."
CNC cut acrylic edges are 'flame polished' upon completion. Basically this means a moderated amount of flame and heat is applied to the edges. As the rough edge heats and melts, natural surface tension creates a smooth, polished finish.
Acrylic Sneeze Guards & Protective Screens
Acrylic screens are the ideal way to add a layer of protection to an office or workplace. Our custom designed acrylic screens have a high level of light transfer, they are durable, scratch resistant, easy to sanitise and are purpose built to reduce contact transfer of diseases between your staff and customers.
As well as protective guards, acrylic materials can also be used to create other kinds of protective housings and barriers. Visual Imaging can create acrylic display cases, such as the one below, to your size and specifications.
