How ImageTECH is Forging a New Kind of Interpretive Outdoor Sign

The Benefit of Interpretive Signage

When it comes to interpretive signage, there’s more to think about than just marking a location or directing site visitors. Interpretive signs are a unique and powerful way to engage, inform, and educate the public, all while enhancing the overall experience of a space. Whether you're designing a nature trail, park, museum, or historical site, interpretive signs serve as key tools for storytelling, guiding visitors through the environment with context, meaning, and insight.

Well placed, well thought-out and well-designed interpretive signage give life to the subject matter, and help forge a connection between visitors to a location. Interpretive signs are one of the best ways to parse detailed information, tell stories and inform in a simple, easy to understand way.

The Versatility of ImageTECH Interpretive Signs

ImageTECH is a purpose built aluminium graphic panel that lends itself perfectly to creative, interesting and versatile interpretive signage design. It's material qualities make it ideally suited for use in indoor or outdoor spaces for interpretive signs and wayfinders of any scale. These qualities include the following.

Visual Clarity

To put it in plainly, there realistically isn't any printing product on the market that can exceed ImageTECH in terms of print quality at large, interpretive sign sized scale. ImageTECH is comprised of a specially coated aluminium panel. The printed graphics are then heat pressed directly into the substrate of the aluminium. This process allows for unmatched quality and complexity in terms of images and graphics. This includes small, detailed text elements, fine, complex maps and high resolution artwork. The ImageTECH printing process allows bright, vibrant colours and pixel perfect fine image details on both indoor and outdoor specific applications.

Durability

As mentioned above, ImageTECH graphics are heat applied right into the substrate of the aluminium. This means there are no vinyl or adhesive print layers, no laminates, no coverings whatsoever. Why is this important? That's simple! It means there is nothing that can be scratched, peeled or pulled off. Traditional printed vinyl graphics, even with outdoor laminates, can be scored or scratched easily, but ImageTECH has a purely metal surface. This means its much more resistant to damage from external sources. Its also graffiti resistant, and can be cleaned with simple, household grade cleaning products.

Weather & UV Resistance

Outdoor grade ImageTECH graphic panels are designed to hold up to UV exposure and outdoor weather conditions. This even includes the harshest outdoor conditions that Australia can throw at them. Outdoor panels are highly resistant to fading, even in constant, daily sunlight. One of Visual Imaging's biggest customers in terms of ImageTECH panels is the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service. They utilize ImageTECH panels of all sizes in national parks right across Queensland.

Design Flexibility

ImageTECH panels can be folded, joined and machine cut to just about any size for any purpose. This means your interpretive sign design is no longer limited to simple flat sign panels. Visual Imaging can design and produce unique interpretive displays, multi-sided structures with graphics to all sides, pedestal signs, custom mounted signs and interactive displays. We can implement steel and aluminum backings, frames and reinforcements of varying thicknesses to create ultra-durable signage mounting and systems.

Graphics Flexibility

Along with the design flexibility mentioned above, ImageTECH also lends itself very well in interesting, creative graphic design. Any kind of image, be it a highly detailed photograph, written text or typography, a map or complex illustrated artwork, can be applied to an ImageTECH panel. This allows a huge degree of visual design flexibility, which was simply not viable with more traditional signage materials such as vinyl and print applied graphics. The Visual Imaging team can use your supplied artwork files or help you design something special from the ground up, creating finished interpretive signs that inform, guide, enhance and entertain in any indoor space or outdoor location.
